Maestros de Plata: William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance

Architect & designer William Spratling left New Orleans in 1928 to revitalize the silver industry in Taxco, Mexico. Featuring hundreds of silver pieces by Spratling & his contemporaries, this exhibit showcased the dramatic range of technique & style achieved by these artisans. In addition to creating modern design, Spratling relied heavily on Mexico’s rich artistic heritage of Pre-Columbian motifs.
