The Nature of Life in the Vieux Carre: Paintings by William and Ellsworth Woodward
Completed
Oct 9, 1996 – Dec 23, 1996
One of four exhibitions inaugurating the newly opened ground-floor galleries inside the Woldenberg Art Center. Paintings by these two American Impressionists, the founding fathers of the Newcomb Art School, were selected to give a sense of the Woodwards’ contribution to art appreciation in the South and their efforts to further enhance the cultural diversity of their adopted city.
Accompanying lecture included “New Orleans and the Woodward Brothers” by Eugene Cizek, Professor of Architecture, Tulane University.
