A variety of work demonstrating how Japanese artists combined elements of tradition with modernist trends in international art during the postwar period.. This exhibition focused on interactions of Japanese and western art/culture - particularly contemporary Japanese artists responding to same artistic trends as Western artists while still employing some traditional practices; and how contemporary Japan appears modern in a Western sense yet holds traditional values, rendered visibly by art.
