Completed
Oct 21, 2004 – Dec 19, 2004
This exhibition will be the first major scholarly presentation of Ms. Kohlmeyer’s work since her death. Ida Kohlmeyer was arguably the most significant artist from Louisiana in the last forty years. The exhibition assesses Kohlmeyer’s whole career and reflects upon her ongoing engagement with contemporary movements in art and, in particular her concern with the use of color and symbols and the traditions of Abstract Expressionism.
Organized by the Newcomb Art Gallery.
Curated by Michael Plante, Professor of Art History, Tulane University.
