Melissa Turner Drumm

Melissa Turner Drumm (b. 1961, Philadelphia, PA; lives and works in Dallas, TX) is a painter, printmaker and sculptor who primarily works with metal and wood. She graduated from Newcomb College in 1984 with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking, where she studied with Jim Steg; and earned an MFA in Painting from Bard College in 1985. Her outdoor public sculpture "Deconstructing Gutenberg" was recently installed at the Cathedral of Hope Phillip Johnson Interfaith Peace Chapel in Dallas and offers commentary on the obsolescence of the printed word. Drumm’s laser cut steel work "Trophy" refers to the ova, fertility, and feminine strength. It is part of a series created with 3D CAD drawings of her grandmother’s lace.
